Hi there, I have a 'new' used HP Z4 G4 and cannot get windows 11 to utilise the 5.1 soundcard (which worked fine in my HP-Z210 - Win 10) model = HJPCI-E VIA 8CH. The card is recognised and appears in the "Device Manager" but not available because device manager reports the "plugs are not connected".

Q. Do you have any suggestions to fix this OR recommend a 5.1 (internal or usb) soundcard that will definitely work with win 11.?? thank you.

cheers CD

I have tried many diff drivers already, it's like the card is seen/connected but the physical check of the 3.5 plug into the card's socket is not recognised.

Hi there.  just to mention that I have found a solution, which is to use the same driver as was first distributed with the card, way back in 2011. Driver version 5.12.3657 for the "Envy24 Family Audio Controller WDM", From this website [https://oemdrivers.com/sound-startech-pcisound5lp]

Also if the windows device manager shows that the "multimedia controller .... " is not installed, try this  "VIA_HD_Aud_v11_1100e_01282016" at this website [https://oemdrivers.com/sound-via-audio-driver]

You should end up with this in device manager in win11.

hope this helps, cheers CD
