I am using the Thunderbolt connection to connect my HP Envy 34 Curved Display with my Spectre laptop. For some reason the sound stopped working about a week ago through the monitor. At the time the Envy was still listed as an Audio component.
This evening, with the sound still not working, I went in and now the Envy is listed as an Unknown Device. The Audio switch no longer shows the Envy as an option.
I tried uninstalling it and rebooting and that simply made it an unknown device again. I tried uninstalling the driver for the audio for the Envy and that did nothing. I went into the Device manager and scanned for new audio and that did nothing.
Can somebody please help?

I ended up finding a Realtek High Definition Audio (SST) driver for my Spectre on the hp.com site. I downloaded it and used it to create a driver folder.
I then canceled out of the installer.
In my Device manager, the Realtek High Definition Audio (SST) was listed as Other Device and it had an error code that the driver was not installed. I went into the properties, clicked Update Driver. I then search my local computer, browsed to the main driver folder, selected "Search subfolders" and the Device manager updated the driver.
The HP Envy 34 Curved Display started producing sounds.
Yesterday I tried running the installer and that work until I shut the computer down for the night. I will let you know tomorrow if shutting things down causes issues.

As I understand the HP Envy 34 AIO doesn't have sound,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Is this USB thunderbolt to HDMI or USB to USB connection?
What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824
(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
Which device is this monitor connected too?
Please reply with the details for further assistance,
Meanwhile, Please download the latest drivers from the HP website: Click here to find and install (if you haven't already used the HP website).
