Hi @yogiiiiiiiiiii

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP H120 Stereo USB Headset is experiencing issues related to automatic muting when plugged into the USB port and not responding when trying to unmute through Windows settings or the built-in button.

Here are some steps to help troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Check USB Connection:

  • Ensure the USB connector is firmly plugged into the computer.
  • Try connecting the headset to a different USB port to see if the issue persists.

2. Update Headset Drivers:

  • Ensure that your headset drivers are up to date. You can check for driver updates through the Device Manager in Windows.
    • For Windows 10/11:
      • Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
      • Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
      • Right-click on your HP H120 headset and select Update driver.
      • Follow the prompts to search automatically for updated driver software.

3. Check Sound Settings:

  • Ensure the headset is selected as the default audio device.
    • For Windows:
      • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Open Sound settings.
      • Under Output, select your HP H120 headset.
      • Under Input, also select your HP H120 headset if you use it for microphone input.
  • Check if the headset is muted in these settings and unmute if necessary.

4. Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Unplug the headset from the USB port.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Once the computer is back on, plug the headset back into the USB port.

5. Test on Another Device:

  • Try connecting your HP H120 headset to another computer or device. This can help determine if the issue is with the headset itself or your computer.

6. Check for Conflicting Software:

  • Sometimes other software or drivers may conflict with the headset. Ensure no other audio control software is interfering.
  • If you have any other audio devices connected, try disconnecting them to see if it resolves the issue.

Hello,

Try these steps:

  1. Switch USB ports to rule out a faulty connection.
  2. Update drivers via Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers → HP H120 → Update Driver.
  3. Set as default device in Sound Settings and ensure it's not muted.
  4. Restart your PC, then reconnect the headset.
  5. Test on another device to confirm if the issue is with the headset itself.

If the problem persists, check for conflicting audio software or contact HP Support for further diagnostics. This issue is known and may require firmware or driver fixes.

Best Regards,
Clark Dahl
