OMEN by HP Obelisk Desktop 875-0024

Hi, I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my computer says that there are no audio devices installed. It happened after I did a normal restart, no update or anything I'm aware of. I've tried all of the driver tricks and updates, tried the windows troubleshooter and the HP support software. I'm out of options, I've clicked through countless links and "fixes" but nothing has worked.

We are experiencing the same issue and have narrowed it down to the USB cameras that are installed.  Once we unplug them and wait a few  or reboot, the audio functions come back.   The same occurs if we plug in a different model Camera.  We think its clear that the Realtek update that took place is the culprit here.   You might try unplugging any audio devices that are connected and see if it is the same for you.

We Reimaged, installed new machine, upgraded Bios and firmware, ran image assistant as well as other things and the only thing that we came down to wer the two items mentioned above.  We have a case opened with HP now.  Be glad to keep you posted on anything we find.

Please do, I'm desperate for any information on how to go about fixing this. I don't have any kind of USB cameras but I did just try turning it off and unplugging everything besides the keyboard and monitor, but to no avail. Thank you for the reply though!

We have a fix for our immediate issue that HP created and have tested it with success on a few machines. To fix the larger problem HP is working to create a new driver update that will get pushed once its created and tested. Until they have this, we are going to have our engineering team ensure that the faulty driver doesn’t auto-update once we apply the fix.  Will provide further info as i get it.

Mode of failure:

Win 11 Audio options (speaker and mic) disappear from control panel as soon you plug in the Logitech 920 Camera , so no more audio input or output – greyed out

This is only seeming to happen in Win11,   not Win10

Older audio drivers are fine -

Logitech 930 Camera work but not any other models

Workaround

The current workaround is to remove via PowerShell script the latest audio drivers pushed by Windows Update last weekend using a script HP created for us.
