HP OmniDesk Desktop AI PC M03-0000i (A9UU1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I am going to possibly answer my own question here. I bought a HP OmniDesk Desktop AI PC. I want to use phonelink on it but have issues using the mic. I have updated all drivers and have tried to see in the bios if I have an internal mic. When I click on mic settings there isn't a mic listed. the input in sounds is greyed out and there isn't an input device found. I can't test the mic in bios either because it ask for an input device first. Does this mean I don't have an internal mic? Phonelink works fine on my laptop. I guess all laptops have installed mics?

Hi @nancyh10301,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The HP Omni Desk Desktop AI PC M03-0000i does not come with a built-in microphone, which is typical for most desktop PCs. Unlike laptops, which almost always include an internal mic for video calls and voice input, desktops usually require external peripherals like:

  • USB microphones
  • Headsets with built-in mics
  • Bluetooth audio devices with mic support
  • Since there's no internal mic, Windows 11 doesn't detect any input device.
  • That’s why the input section is greyed out and Phonelink can’t access a mic.

What You Can Try to Do:

  1. Use an External Microphone:
    • Plug in a USB mic or a headset with a 3.5mm jack or USB connection.
    • Windows should automatically detect it.

  2. Check for Bluetooth Audio Devices:
    • If you have Bluetooth headphones with a mic, pair them and set them as the input device.

  3. Verify in Sound Settings:
    • Go to Settings > System > Sound.
    • Under Input, select the newly connected mic.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I purchased an external usb mic. When I use Phonelink the person can hear me using the mic but I cannot hear them through the usb external speakers. The controls on phonelink, besides end call, are still greyed out. As I stated in another conversation I have updated all my drivers. Reinstalled Phonelink. Allowed all apps to use phonelink. Is there another area to allow phonelink to work properly? In BIOS? Thank you for your help.
