I need to make a recording for an assignment.  I tried to use the microphone and it was screeching like there was audio feedback.  It happens if the speakers are on and the microphone is on.  So that means, I can't even do a zoom call. I cannot even narrate over a powerpoint presentation. The microphone is built in.

I have tried everything and now I wondered if my only solution is to buy a new pc to urgently complete my assignment.

I contacted a 'chat' assistant on  windows (?) .  Completed everything restarted the computer and it woke the neighbours as it sounded like an alarm had gone off.  I now have to permanently disable the microphone.  If I try to test it, I switch off the speakers and speak into the internal mic and it has a buzzing noise in the background.  It then starts to screech.

I have gone through trouble shooting - all the dialogue boxes and updating driver etc.  Incidentally, the sound on the pc is good if i am listening to/watching internet.

I got this message from one dialogue box today about Realtek High Definition audio:

device HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0280&SUBSYS_103C2B0D&REV_1000\4&1aaf0fbe&0&0001 requires further installation.

When I follow trouble shooting steps, it says no problems found.

I am also now unable to play windows media player - it says there is a problem with sound device.

Should I just count my losses and buy another pc?  Is there any quick fix for this?

I have a tight deadline to complete a recording for my assignment.

Thanks in advance

I am considering purchasing a business PC to complete an assignment ASAP if I cannot resolve a problem with my current pc (my last post)..

The specs all say they have integrated microphones with the webcam.  Do these pcs allow speaking directly into the pc without a headset as it is not clear on the description.  I am looking at any pc with at least 8GB RAM and intel processor i5.

Would I have to set up this pc myself or does it work straight out of the box? I don't have time to get used to a pc due to a tight deadline.

Thank you
