This solution worked for me as well. However, every so often the there is an update that changes the driver back to the Conexant driver and you have to repeat these steps. It's annoying. I would recommend to HP stay away from using Conexant devices until they can develop a mature and tested end-product.

Just an update on this - the latest driver which is SP87156 availableon HP website for the Prodesk also still has the problem! My client installed it by accident and it broke her sound again. It's version 8.65.268.0 Rev A.

 

We reverted back to the patched version i mentioned earlier.  It seems only the 'fixed' version works on W10 - SP82457 8.65.243.0 Rev A.
