Laptop speaker suddenly stopped working.  If I connect my bluetooth headphone, I get sound but no sound directly from Laptop.  Ran HP diagnostics and says no output device connected.  Also ran HP Diagnostics UEFI and sound works.

Researched on here and internet, did all the fixes I could find, nothing helps.

Yes. I went to 'reset PC' and then chose to 'keep my files' and it worked perfectly and didn't take very long.

I did back up all my personal files to an external drive beforehand, just in case but it all worked OK.

One more data point, read to try to go into the Bang & Olufsen audio control and change a setting but when I try to open the audio control, I get the message "Cannot connect to RPC service", researched that and enabled RPC on startup to no avail.

Thanks, but updating the BIOS was one of the steps I already performed.  It did not help.

I had exactly the same problem last week and contacted HP support. Looks like there was some corruption with the drivers. I had to reset PC and reinstall windows. This has solved the problem for me with both the internal speakers working and the B&O app now works again too.

Thank you!  Were you able to do that without losing all your data and drivers?

I will see if I can do that.
