As of a few weeks ago, I am no longer able to hear my speakers (plugged into speaker jack), and I am unable to connect to Realtek HD Audio. The computer tells me that I have the proper driver. I do not recall that the phenomenon is concurrent with a Windows update. Like so many before me, I've tried uninstalling and restarting, reinstalling and restarting, dancing around a fire and restarting, and so on.
This seems to be a common problem with a common lack of a solution.
Headphones still work (headphone jack), and I still get a deep click over the speakers if I when I unplug or replug them (speaker jack) while they're on, as if something is getting through to them.
I'm not sure why they still call it Realtek, as it appears to have become imaginary.
