Hi @DocDen1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue of "no audio device installed" after updating audio drivers often occurs due to a conflict or incomplete driver installation. Here’s how you can resolve it.

Check Audio Connections

  • Ensure external speakers or headphones are properly connected.
  • For built-in speakers, ensure the volume isn’t muted.

Reinstall the Audio Driver

  1. Uninstall the current audio driver:
    • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
    • Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
    • Right-click on the audio device (e.g., Realtek, Intel, or similar) and select Uninstall device.
    • Check the box for Delete the driver software for this device (if available) and confirm.
  2. Restart your PC:
    • Windows will attempt to reinstall the default audio driver.

Install the Correct Driver from HP

  1. Go to the HP Support website.
  2. Search for your model: HP Pavilion 24-ca.
  3. Locate and download the Audio Driver compatible with your Windows version.
  4. Install the driver and restart your PC.

Run Windows Troubleshooter

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  3. Select Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter.

Check BIOS Settings

  • Restart your PC and enter BIOS/UEFI by pressing the required key (usually Esc, F2, or F10).
  • Ensure the audio device is enabled in BIOS settings.
  • Save changes and exit.

Update the Operating System

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Windows Update and check for updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello,

This sounds very frustrating! Here's a step-by-step to troubleshoot:

  1. Reinstall Drivers:

    • Go to Device Manager, find your audio drivers under "Sound, video, and game controllers," right-click and select "Uninstall device."

    • Restart your computer and let Windows automatically reinstall the driver.

  2. Run Windows Troubleshooter:

    • Right-click the sound icon on your taskbar.

    • Select "Troubleshoot sound problems."

  3. Update Audio Settings:

    • In the same Device Manager, click "View" > "Show hidden devices".

    • Double-click your audio device and check if it's enabled.

  4. Boot into BIOS:

    • Ensure the audio device is enabled in your BIOS. Sometimes driver updates might disable onboard devices.

  5. HP Support:

    • Use or contact us directly for further assistance.

Has anyone else faced this challenge and found a different solution?

Best Regards,
Thomas Brown
