Hi @DocDen1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue of "no audio device installed" after updating audio drivers often occurs due to a conflict or incomplete driver installation. Here’s how you can resolve it.
Check Audio Connections
- Ensure external speakers or headphones are properly connected.
- For built-in speakers, ensure the volume isn’t muted.
Reinstall the Audio Driver
- Uninstall the current audio driver:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
- Right-click on the audio device (e.g., Realtek, Intel, or similar) and select Uninstall device.
- Check the box for Delete the driver software for this device (if available) and confirm.
- Restart your PC:
- Windows will attempt to reinstall the default audio driver.
Install the Correct Driver from HP
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Search for your model: HP Pavilion 24-ca.
- Locate and download the Audio Driver compatible with your Windows version.
- Install the driver and restart your PC.
Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Select Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter.
Check BIOS Settings
- Restart your PC and enter BIOS/UEFI by pressing the required key (usually Esc, F2, or F10).
- Ensure the audio device is enabled in BIOS settings.
- Save changes and exit.
Update the Operating System
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to Windows Update and check for updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hello,
This sounds very frustrating! Here's a step-by-step to troubleshoot:
Reinstall Drivers:
Go to Device Manager, find your audio drivers under "Sound, video, and game controllers," right-click and select "Uninstall device."
Restart your computer and let Windows automatically reinstall the driver.
Run Windows Troubleshooter:
Right-click the sound icon on your taskbar.
Select "Troubleshoot sound problems."
Update Audio Settings:
In the same Device Manager, click "View" > "Show hidden devices".
Double-click your audio device and check if it's enabled.
Boot into BIOS:
Ensure the audio device is enabled in your BIOS. Sometimes driver updates might disable onboard devices.
HP Support:
Use or contact us directly for further assistance.
Has anyone else faced this challenge and found a different solution?
Best Regards,
