Hi,

I have an HP Envoy x360 Laptop.

I recently bought a recording studio and I'm experiencing audio delay when recording. I have tried multiple mics and softwares.  I also tried used my mic on another PC, and it worked without delays. This seems to be an issue with my laptop. I tried resetting my laptop, but I get the following:

Can someone please help?!

Hi @dude81,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Envy x360 is causing noticeable audio input delay when recording, even though the same microphones work fine on another PC. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check Windows sound input settings
Go to Settings > System > Sound > Input and select your microphone.
Turn Audio enhancements off and set the input format to a standard rate (for example, 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz).

Disable audio enhancements in Control Panel
Open Control Panel > Sound > Recording tab.
Select the microphone, open Properties, and disable all enhancements if present.

Match sample rate between Windows and recording software
In your recording software (DAW), check the sample rate and buffer size.
Make sure the sample rate matches what is set in Windows sound settings.

Reduce buffer size in the recording software
Open your DAW’s audio settings and lower the buffer size (for example, 64–128 samples).
Large buffer sizes cause noticeable input delay while recording.

Check Realtek audio driver version
Open Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers.
If using a generic “High Definition Audio Device,” install the latest Realtek audio driver for your HP Envy x360 from HP’s support site.

Disable audio power saving
Go to Control Panel > Power Options and select High performance.
This prevents audio devices from being throttled, which can introduce latency.

Turn off Windows background audio processing
In Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone, turn off access for unused apps.
Background apps can add processing delay to live audio input.

Test with direct monitoring (if available)
If your microphone or audio interface supports direct monitoring, enable it.
This bypasses Windows audio processing and eliminates monitoring delay.

Check BIOS and firmware updates
Install any available BIOS or chipset updates for your Envy x360.
Firmware issues can affect audio timing and performance.

About the reset error you’re seeing
If Windows reset is failing, it usually indicates a corrupted system image.
This is not required to fix audio latency and should be addressed separately after resolving the driver and settings issues.

I hope this helps.
