@StephenC65, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
To test the internal microphone on your HP All-in-One Desktop PC, follow these steps:
Open Sound Settings:
- Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar.
- Select "Open Sound settings."
Select Input Device:
- Under the "Input" section, ensure that the internal microphone is selected as the input device.
Test the Microphone:
- Speak into the microphone and observe the microphone activity bar to see if it moves, indicating that sound is being detected.
Use Troubleshooting Tools:
- If the microphone is not working, click on "Troubleshoot" under the "Input" section to run the Windows troubleshooter.
Ensure Proper Settings:
- Go to "Manage sound devices" and ensure that the microphone is not disabled.
- Check "App permissions" to ensure that the applications you wish to use are allowed access to the microphone.
Additional Options:
- Open the "Control Panel," go to "Hardware and Sound," and then "Sound."
- Click on the "Recording" tab, select your internal microphone, and click "Properties."
- Go to the "Levels" tab and adjust the microphone volume to ensure it is not muted.
