Hello. Since I upgrade to Windows 11, I have no sound on my pc (both speakers and headphone). Synaptics Audio seems to be the problem. If I delete the driver in device manager, sound is effective after a reboot. But the driver is automatically re-installed if I reboot once more. Isn't there a simple solution to make this work ?

Hi there @Garagarape, and welcome to HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.

This issue with Synaptics HD Audio after upgrading to Windows 11 usually stems from driver compatibility. Here's how you can resolve it:

Option 1: Use Microsoft HD Audio Driver

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Right-click Synaptics HD Audio and choose Update driver.
  4. Select Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers.
  5. Choose High Definition Audio Device (Microsoft) and click Next.
  6. Restart your PC.

This will install a generic but stable driver that works well with Windows 11.

Option 2: Prevent Automatic Reinstallation of Synaptics Driver

If Windows keeps reinstalling the Synaptics driver, you can block it:

  1. Download and run the Show or Hide Updates Troubleshooter from Microsoft: Windows Update Troubleshooter - Microsoft Support
  2. Use it to hide the Synaptics driver update so Windows Update won’t reinstall it.

Option 3: Try HP OEM Audio Driver (if available)

  1. Visit the HP Support page: Official HP® Support
  2. Enter your PC model number.
  3. Go to Drivers & Software > Audio.
  4. Download and install the latest Windows 11-compatible audio driver (look for Realtek or Synaptics).

Additional Tips

  • Make sure Windows is fully updated via Settings > Windows Update.
  • Disable any third-party driver updater tools that may interfere.
