I've seen various references to this issue dating back to 2018.  I received a new HP All in One desktop computer for Christmas 2022.   Several months later I began having an issue with the left speaker (as one faces the screen) making a "crackling" or "fuzz" noise.  I first noticed it on YouTube but it soon occurred on various audio functions, including alerts and error tones.  I've followed some of the previous fixes to update audio drivers with success but the issue has recently resurfaced in the past few weeks.  My PC indicates that all my drivers are up to date.  This does not occur when using head or earphones.

Hi @cmallison1963 ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

To be able to answer you effectively, we need some information.

May I have the exact product name and number? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

Meanwhile,

Here's what you can try to address this problem:

  1. Check the Audio Settings: Ensure that the audio settings on your computer are properly configured. Sometimes, incorrect settings or high volume levels can cause distortion in the sound output.

  2. Update Audio Drivers: Make sure your audio drivers are up to date. Go to the HP support website, enter your computer model, and download the latest audio drivers. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause audio problems.

  3. Speaker Connections: Check the connections of the left speaker. Ensure that the cable is securely plugged into both the speaker and the computer. Loose connections can result in distorted sound.

  4. Test with Different Audio Sources: Play audio from various sources (different apps, music files, videos, etc.) to see if the issue persists across all sources or if it's specific to certain applications.

  5. Hardware Issue: If the crackling or fuzzy noise continues despite checking settings and connections, there might be a hardware problem with the speaker itself. In this case, contacting HP Support or a technician might be necessary for further diagnosis or speaker replacement.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

This is an HP All In One Desktop 27-cb1xxx.  Your "this document" link in the first paragraph comes back as an error message so I am unsure how to obtain any further info you requested.

1. Already did that.

2. PC indicates my drivers are all up to date.

3. It is an all in one PC, there are no speaker wire connections that I can check.

4. As previously indicated, the noise first was noticed using YouTube but has migrated to other applications, including Windows alert or error tones, but not all.  It happens using Chrome, Firefox, and Edge browsers.
