I have tried many possible solutions, all to no avail. Here's a summary of my issue:
I am trying to import sound from an external device into my PC so I can hear it. So, I tried using my Line In port; however, this is when I realized Line In was not in my Recording sounds tab. After reinstalling my audio drivers, Line In reappeared, but would always show the status "Not plugged in," whether it actually was or not. After restarting, it would disappear again.
Any thoughts?

Hi @Doctor-Zer0,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with the Line In recording device on your HP Pavilion Gaming TG01. I'll do my best to help you troubleshoot the issue.
Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem.
1. Ensure the Line In device is connected properly: Make sure the audio cable from the Line In device is securely plugged into the Line In port on your computer. Additionally, check if the Line In device is powered on and functioning correctly.
2. Check audio settings: Open the sound settings on your computer and make sure the Line In device is selected as the recording input. Here's how to do it.
- Right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray and select "Sounds" or "Open Sound settings."
- In the Sound settings window, go to the "Recording" tab.
- Look for the Line In device in the list of available recording devices. If you can't find it, right-click on an empty area and make sure both "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" are checked.
- If you find the Line In device, select it and click on "Set Default" or "Enable" to make it the default recording device.
3. Check driver and software updates: Ensure that you have the latest audio drivers installed for your computer. You can visit the HP support website and search for the drivers specific to your model. Download and install any available updates.
4. Test the Line In device on another computer: If possible, connect the Line In device to another computer to check if it works correctly. This will help determine if the issue is with the device itself or your computer.
5. Try a different Line In device: If you have access to another Line In device, try connecting it to your computer to see if it works. This will help identify if the problem lies with the original Line In device.
6. Restart your computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve various audio-related issues. Restart your computer and check if the Line In device starts working.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
