Hi @Lynnejai1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Sorry for the inconvenience caused and don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Is the microphone built into your HP device, or are you using an external headset/USB mic?
  • Do you notice the mic not working only in Zoom, or does it also fail in other apps (like Teams, Skype, or the Windows Voice Recorder)?
  • Have you seen any error messages or mic icons with a red slash through them?

Here are a few quick troubleshooting steps you can try in the meantime:

  • Check Zoom settings: In Zoom, go to Settings > Audio and make sure the correct microphone is selected. Try the “Test Mic” option.
  • Windows sound settings: Right‑click the speaker icon on your taskbar → Sound settings → under Input, confirm your microphone is chosen and the input volume isn’t muted or too low.
  • Privacy permissions: In Windows, go to Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone and ensure apps (including Zoom) are allowed to use the mic.
  • Update drivers: Open Device Manager, expand Audio inputs and outputs, right‑click your microphone, and select Update driver.
  • Restart your device: Sometimes a simple reboot clears up hardware conflicts

I hope this helps.
