Solved!

Microphone not working

HP Recommended
HP Pavilion 590p0070
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I am currently on a committee in our town and we will be doing meetings with Zoom.   Yesterday I connected to a workshop for Zoom and I could see a message near the microphone icon that indicated the microphone could not be detected.  I have googled this subject and tried to resolve myself but to no avail.   I was also told the computer I purchased does not have speakers so I purchased external speakers quite sometime ago and have them plugged in and setup.   The speakers work fine but not able to resolve the microphone part.

@Rugbymom
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • Step 1: Check the microphone hardware
  • Step 2: Update the audio driver
  • Step 3: Use the Troubleshooting tool
  • Step 4: Configure the sound settings in Windows. Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03421813 to complete the troubleshooting steps.

Click here: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/sections/200319096-Audio to ZOOM Audio issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you.   When I put out a call for help on our local listserve I was told to "buy an Apple".  I have always had HP products and had great luck with them.

@Newbie_1-1

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you tried above-suggested troubleshooting steps?
  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?

Keep me posted for further assistance.
