Compaq IT Support/Codec needed.
Dear Compaq Community.
I have been advised by the Intel online Community to contact Compaq for Codecs that they do not make themselves. Can you please assist me by providing the necessary Driver/Codec below?
The reply/advice from Intel to me and my initial question to them is below. Many thanks.
Mr Bennett
Intel Community Advice
“The device you identified is the Intel High-Definition Audio interface. The driver that you actually need is not for the interface itself but for for the media Codec that completes this circuit. Intel cannot helps you with this; they do not make these Codecs. You need to contact the board vendor for the appropriate driver.”
My Initial Question to Intel
“Dear Community.
Can anyone assist me in finding a "Multimedia Audio Controller" Driver for the PC "Compaq Evo D300" ?
Exact Model: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=92161&lang=en&cc=us
“077Ch” is the Main Board.
Company and Device:
VEN 8086
DEV 2445
I upgraded to Windows 7 from XP but I think Intel do not do Drivers any more for this PC.
I'd be very grateful for help.
Thank you.
Mr Bennett”

You're very welcome.
What I mean is you drill down to that file and select it with your mouse, then click next, and it should install the driver
You don't copy and paste anything.
You can first try this easier method of installing the driver...
When you get to the Browse my computer for driver software option, browse to: C:\SWSetup\sp27103, make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.
The original file I gave in my instructions has the hardware ID you posted so, it should install the driver (8086-2445)

Hi:
I would try manually installing the XP audio driver as follows if the auto install doesn't work.
This SoftPaq contains the audio driver for the desktop models and operating systems listed that have the ADI AC97 Integrated Digital Audio Controller.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp27001-27500/sp27103.exe
Download and run the above file. If it gets the sound to work automatically, great. If not...
Close out of any error windows.
Go to the device manager and click on the Multimedia Audio Controller needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
Then click on Have Disk, and browse to: C:\SWSetup\sp27103\SMAXWDM\W2k_XP\smwdmCH2 setup information file, and select the SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio device from the list, and see if the driver installs that way.
Then restart the PC.

Hello Paul.
Thank you for the advice. However, when I get to this stage below following your advice,
"Then click on Have Disk,"
I do so and Copy and Paste this, "C:\SWSetup\sp27103\SMAXWDM\W2k_XP\smwdmCH2" into the Window/Field. It then says,
"The folder you specified doesn't contain driver software for your device. Select a folder that contains your driver software and try again." The image below:
When you say "and browse to" do you mean look for by Browsing, or Copy and Paste this? : "C:\SWSetup\sp27103\SMAXWDM\W2k_XP\smwdmCH2" into the field in the Window/Dialogue box?
Can you please help?
Thank you.
