Please help me.
I November 2024 the hadset worked Perfectly, but then after a windows update the 15 of November the headset suddenlgy didn't work anymore. I took the cable out of in the back to test it in the front and there the mic worked and the audio worked if i didn't press it all the way in, but slightly. If I put it all the way inn it didn't work. But the audio I had then was very stange. The midpoints didn't work, which meant that I nearly only heard the instruments and not the voices in songs. I could only listen to "In my life" by the Beatles because that is one of the only songs where the voices isn't in the middle.
Then I tried to fix it, with updating the drivers, changeging back to the old update, and alot of different soulutions on youtube, but nothing worked.

Then I went on Christmas holiday, and when I came back in January, it worked first. Then I got an update and suddenly the mic worked, but not the duio anymore. The day or two after a new update came along and now it dosen't work at all.
It says that It gives sound to the headset, but i hear nothing. It dosent reigster my mic, both in the front and in the plugs back.
And most frustrarting of all, now the headsett dosen't work at all. I tried it on another pc, on playstation, with a diffrent cable and nothing.
And I am very carefull with my headset so I know that it isent anything of the hardwear which is broken. So I don't know what to do here.

I have had many times after a update where I have had to fix the audio again in some way, but not like this. Please help.

Hi @AugustMarquess  ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your headsets Stopped working after Windows Update. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to the issue.

It seems like the issue has become progressively more complicated over time due to software updates and possibly hardware misconfigurations. Based on your description, it’s possible that the problem involves a combination of:

  1. Audio driver conflicts introduced by Windows updates.
  2. Incorrect audio jack behavior or settings.
  3. Potential damage to the headset itself, given it no longer works on other devices.

Here’s a step-by-step plan to resolve the problem:

Step 1: Verify the Headset

Since the headset doesn't work on other devices now:

  • Test a different working headset with your OMEN 30L. If another headset works fine, the issue is most likely with your original headset.
  • If the alternate headset also doesn't work properly, proceed with troubleshooting the computer.

Step 2: Reinstall Audio Drivers

Corrupted or incompatible drivers are a common cause of audio issues after updates.

Uninstall Current Drivers:

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
  • Right-click your audio driver (likely Realtek or similar) and choose Uninstall device. Check the box for Delete the driver software for this device, if available.
  • Restart your computer. Windows will reinstall a generic driver automatically.

Install Latest Drivers:

  • Go to the HP OMEN 30L GT13-1000a support page.
  • Download and install the latest audio drivers compatible with your model and Windows version.

Step 3: Check Default Audio Settings

Set Default Playback Device:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sound settings.
  • Scroll to Output and ensure your headset is selected as the default device.
  • Scroll to Input and ensure your headset’s microphone is selected as the default input device.

Adjust Properties:

  • In the same Sound settings, click on the headset under Output.
  • Check the Format (e.g., 16-bit, 44100 Hz) and test other formats if sound doesn’t work.

Step 4: Test Audio Jack Configuration

Your description suggests a possible hardware misconfiguration for the audio jacks. Realtek HD Audio Manager or Windows settings might be involved.

Open Realtek HD Audio Manager (if installed):

  • Check the jack settings and ensure they match the device type (e.g., "headset").
  • Disable any advanced effects or surround sound settings that might be interfering.

For Windows settings:

  • Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound.
  • Select your headset, click Properties, and go to the Enhancements tab. Disable all enhancements.

Step 5: Roll Back or Pause Windows Updates

If the issue started after a Windows update:

  • Roll back the last major update:
    • Press Windows + I, go to Update & Security > Recovery, and select Go back to the previous version of Windows 10/11.
  • Pause future updates:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    • Click Pause updates and choose a time frame to stop further updates while troubleshooting.

Step 6: BIOS/UEFI Update

An outdated or incompatible BIOS can also cause hardware issues.

  1. Go to the HP OMEN 30L GT13-1000a drivers page.
  2. Download and install the latest BIOS/UEFI update for your device.

Step 7: Additional Testing

If all else fails:

  1. Test a USB headset to determine if the issue is isolated to the 3.5mm jacks or affects audio functionality as a whole.
  2. Check the hardware:
    • Inspect the audio ports for dust or damage.
    • Try using a different cable for the headset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
