Hi @DMichelleWill, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If people say you sound muffled or far away on Zoom, the issue is likely with your microphone settings or hardware. Here’s how you can fix it on your HP All-in-One Desktop PC 24-cb1000i:
Check Your Microphone Selection in Zoom
- Open Zoom and go to Settings (click on your profile picture > Settings).
- Click on Audio in the left panel.
- Under Microphone, select the correct microphone.
- If your PC has multiple microphones (built-in, external, or a headset), make sure Zoom is using the right one.
- Speak into the mic and watch the Input Level bar move.
- If the level is too low, adjust the Input Volume slider.
Test the Microphone in Windows
- Click Start > Settings (⚙️) > System > Sound.
- Scroll to Input and select the correct microphone from the dropdown list.
- Click Device Properties and increase the Volume.
- Click Test your microphone and speak—Windows will show a level percentage.
- If it's too low, increase the volume.
- If it's barely detecting sound, consider Boosting the mic:
- Click Additional device properties > Levels tab.
- Adjust the Microphone Boost.
Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers
- Right-click Start > Device Manager.
- Expand Audio inputs and outputs.
- Right-click your microphone and select Update driver > Search automatically.
- If the issue persists, uninstall the microphone driver, restart your PC, and let Windows reinstall it.
Check Zoom’s Noise Suppression Settings
- In Zoom, go to Settings > Audio.
- Under Suppress Background Noise, set it to Low (if it’s High, it might be muting your voice).
- Disable Automatically adjust microphone volume and set it manually.
Try an External Microphone
If your built-in microphone is not working well, try using a headset or an external USB microphone for clearer sound.
Check for Windows or HP Updates
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.
- Open HP Support Assistant and check for audio driver updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
