HP ENVY Recline 27-k150xt TouchSmart All-in-One CTO Desktop PC (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My All-in-One desktop sound no longer works. I ran the HP diagnostic software outside of Windows and it passed all the tests and I could hear sound. In Windows, I cannot hear sound and cannot install drivers without an error message saying I have no sound device. It feels like an endless loop. I tried all other HP and Windows troubleshooting software and nothing worked. I understand that this PC is old but it otherwise still works fine and I want to keep using it. Please help!

According to the product specs for your PC, it comes with an IDT audio codec.

See if installing the W10 IDT audio driver from a slightly newer model PC also works on yours.

Restart the PC after installing the driver.

Tempo High-Definition Audio Driver (Original IDT)

6.10.6504.0

I had the same problem a few days ago, with my HP Envy desktop.  No matter what troubleshooting I did, even reinstalling Realtek and Nvidia, the diagnostics said that I didn't have a sound card installed.  I realised that the incident happened after an update around the 2nd December.  I then looked for a restore point that dated previous to the and restored it.

The restore took nearly an hour but after that all sound facilites worked again.

cheers,
Mike
