new computer, delivered last Thursday. Works fine. Audio input okay, but no audio output. Have run dozens of tests, all to no avail. Everything, allegedly, is working satisfactorily. Using the Dell speakers and note that a questioner flagged up a problem with them 10 years ago. But links now out of date. At my wits end.

hi

sorry but there is something i don't quite understand
you say :
"Using the Dell speakers and note that a questioner flagged up a problem with them 10 years ago."
So you are not sure that the speakers are working?
What links are you talking about?
Do you have an audio headset available, or possibly other speakers to try

The problem was resolved by HP. various tweaks deep in the operating system. Just followed instructions; sorry can't be more helpful.

How did you get in contact with HP to resolve the issue?

To contact HP, I drilled down under “contact us“ and eventually found I could post my query there. HP then responded with a case number and gave me a number to ring. After the usual rigmarole of “press 1 for ....“ Et cetera, I got through quite quickly and was guided through various steps which resolved the problem.

HP told me my audio issue was software related.  Their warranty doesn't cover software. How were you able to get support?
