My PC wont register any audio devices through HDMI. Only through bluetooth. My PC is connected to a +10 year old surround receiver through HDMI. And that receiver is connected to my TV through HDMI too. It works with another PC I have connected to the same receiver.

I've had four different supporters from Microsoft try to fix the problem via remote control. The first time the guy actually made it work. After he had finished I deleted a 131GB file - I think he uninstalled Windows, reinstalled it again and this 131GB file was like the remnants of the "old" Windows. The thing is: It still worked after I had deleted that massive file. The next day it didn't work. I don't know why. Seems like the problem is that my PC wont recognize the audio signal from the HDMI cable. The video signal works fine.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi @Lars1979,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing a "No sound - No output devices found" issue on your HP laptop, there are several potential solutions you can try to resolve the problem. Follow the steps below.

Check audio connections: Ensure that your speakers or headphones are properly connected to the audio jack on your laptop. If you're using external speakers, make sure they are powered on and properly connected to the laptop.

Restart your laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Restart your laptop and check if the sound is working afterward.

Update audio drivers: Outdated or incompatible audio drivers can cause sound-related issues. To update the audio drivers, follow these steps.

a. Press the Windows key + X and select "Device Manager" from the menu that appears.

b. In the Device Manager window, expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.

c. Right-click on your audio device and select "Update driver."

d. Choose the option to search for updated drivers automatically. Windows will search for and install any available updates for your audio drivers. e. Restart your laptop and check if the sound is functioning.

Reinstall audio drivers: If updating the drivers didn't help, you can try reinstalling them. Follow these steps.

a. Open the Device Manager as explained in step 3.

b. Right-click on your audio device and select "Uninstall device."

c. Confirm the uninstallation and restart your laptop.

d. After the restart, Windows will automatically reinstall the audio drivers. Check if the sound is working.

Run the Audio Troubleshooter: Windows has a built-in troubleshooter that can help identify and resolve audio issues.

Here's how to use it.

a. Right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray and select "Troubleshoot sound problems." z

b. Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter. It will attempt to diagnose and fix any audio-related problems.

Check audio settings: Ensure that the audio settings on your laptop are configured correctly. Right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray, select "Open Sound settings," and verify that the correct output device is selected.

Perform a system restore: If the issue started recently after a software installation or system update, you can try performing a system restore to revert your laptop to a previous state when the sound was working. Search for "System Restore" in the Windows search bar and follow the instructions to restore your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
