No problem. I use a sound bar and get a better sound as a matter of fact.
As far as HP releasing an updated driver, I’d say good luck with that. They usually don’t bother about the machines that are more than 3 years old and minor issues are not a priority for them. Mine is 5 years old but is a very good one. I’m not planning to replace it for the time being.
thank you again for your posted solution. I’m sure it will be helpful for some people.

a very easy and simple solution , not like someone else i read, fixed mine easily but unfortunately i reset my whole pc thinking it would solve the problem but it didnt, even took pc apart thinking a speaker connection might be faulty but it wasnt, but yours worked. thank you

I was having the same problem. I uninstalled the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver from the installed apps, rebooted, and that fixed it for me.

None of the above worked for me. upgraded win10 on HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF to Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
Version 10.0.26100 Build 26100.

In desperation, I uninstalled all audio devices in device manager, selected "remove all drivers"  then rebooted.

After restart, the speakers started to work!

2 devices are added to dev mgr:

Synaptics HD Audio [no driver required for win11]

Sonitude Audio Effects Component [Multiplie driver files from MS and  Sonitude

Good luck, it worked for me. {note volume is quite soft. You will need speakers to do any meaningful listening.
