OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC GT21-1000i (6C1R0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who knows of a fix for the audio on the new HP 40L desktop gaming system. Although there were issues with the first two sets of speakers I tried to use, I bought the new Logitech G560 speakers, to no effect. The sound quality is really poor during gaming and is flat at best. There is no way for the computer owner to even try to adjust the sound settings. The sound is "ok" with music and video but still overall it's exceptionally underwhelming. My other Omen's sound quality was absolutely amazing. If I had known in advance

how poor the sound quality was I would have purchased a different system.  Any help is appreciated

Hi @Pappy321,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's unfortunate that you're experiencing sound quality issues with your OMEN By HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC. There could be several reasons why you're not getting the expected sound quality. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially improve your sound quality.

  • Driver Updates: Make sure that all your audio drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause sound quality issues.
  • Sound Settings: Check your sound settings within Windows. Right-click on the sound icon in the system tray and select "Open Sound settings." Ensure that the default output device is set to your Logitech G560 speakers.
  • Logitech G560 Software: If the Logitech G560 speakers have their own software or drivers, make sure that they are installed and configured correctly. You might be able to adjust sound settings through Logitech's software.
  • Equalizer Settings: Adjust the equalizer settings on your computer and within any audio software you are using. Sometimes, tweaking the equalizer can make a significant difference in sound quality.
  • Cable Connections: Check that all cables are properly connected. Loose or damaged cables can result in poor sound quality.
  • Interference: Ensure there's no electromagnetic interference in your gaming setup. Electronic devices, especially those with strong magnets, can sometimes interfere with sound quality.
  • Audio Codecs: If you're playing games, check that the game's audio codecs are configured properly. Some games allow you to choose the audio output device and may have specific settings for sound quality.
  • Sound Enhancement Software: Some PCs come with pre-installed sound enhancement software. Check for this and see if it's impacting the sound quality. You can disable or adjust these settings as needed.
  • Hardware Issues: It's possible that there might be hardware issues with either the PC or the Logitech speakers.
  • Compatibility Issues: Confirm that the Logitech G560 speakers are fully compatible with your OMEN By HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC. You can check the product specifications and compatibility information on both the HP and Logitech websites.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

For those of you who might buy this system and experience audio issues, I will save you some time. This system is dependent on third party software, as far as I can tell, for quality sound. I made the horrible mistake of setting up the computer with no speakers attached and then leaving it unused for about a month, as i was still using my other Omen computer until I could give it to another family member. After contacting HP support, they determined it wasn't a hardware problem and transferred me to another department that tried to sell me a software maintenance subscription. Uh...no. After hours and hours of reading and research, the best I could determine is that you have basic audio drivers and codecs, and the system is dependent on third party software and or firmware for a quality audio sound. All anyone at HP had to say was, "Dude, download an equalizer". What I got was an offer for a software maintenance subscription. I have owned many HP computers over the years with good results. This doesn't seem to be the case anymore for someone who just wants a plug and play system. A big fail for HP in my opinion. Makes me sick now that I am on my third set of speakers that the original speakers that were used were in fact good speakers after all. Wasted money on my part, and I am not happy about it.
