HP ENVY Desktop PC TPE01-2000i (1K4E8AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all, from the sound control panel there is no longer the 7.1 option to make my sound system work. There is only "Stereo" or "Quadraphonics". The sound card is Realtek(R) Audio and the driver version is 6.0.9163.1. Thanks everyone in advance for the help.

hi

Was the option present?
you have the latest version available here
so if it worked with the previous driver, uninstall the latter
and install the previous one

you must have this motherboard, but nothing specific for the audio option

  • Audio Codec: Realtek ALC3601-CG
  • Audio jack presence detection

Audio ports (Line-in/Line-out/Microphone)

Headphone/microphone port

Thank you for your reply.

The problem is precisely in the updated version of the driver. On an old PC running version 6.0.1.7997 everything worked fine. Unfortunately I can't find where to download it...

Thanks again for the help.

Sorry, that doesn't exactly answer the question.
you compare with another model, which may manage 7.1
but this model may only have the possibility of 5.1

so did you have option 7.1 on this model?

On the old PC in addition to "Stereo" and "Quadraphonics" I had only the "5.1 Surround" option what is missing in the new PC in which I connected the speaker set.

This does not answer the question of this new computer
Have you ever seen option 7.1..
is it mentioned somewhere that this should be the case?
from what i saw, it might only be possible to use 5.1 no more

I am sorry for the delay.
The 7.1 option is not visible on the new PC either.
I have solve the problem by connecting an external USB sound card and using the "USB Multi-Channel Audio Device" application to reverse the center speaker with the subwoofer.  Many thanks for your help in anyway and best regards.

At first, however, everything worked normally, even without the sound card I had purchased for the old PC.
I believe that the problem is related to the version of the Realtek driver and / or the failure to install the application "Realtek HD Audio Manager" (on the net there are several videos that describe this issue).

Sorry, I gave you answers
I couldn't find out if you had this function from the start or not.
I suggested you try older drivers, but I didn't see if you had tried, the result?!
I had a doubt about mine, I checked, and I didn't have option 7.1
but not knowing if there was the option before!!
After checking, the motherboard / audio was well indicated supporting only 5.1!
I was confusing it with another computer I think
But if it works like that, then so much the better.

I also don't remember if there were both options on the new PC (5.1 and 7.1), but I'm sure it worked with 5.1. Then suddenly I realized that option 5.1 was gone…
Thanks for your help Prométhée.
