Go to Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters → Playing Audio → Run
Follow the prompts and allow Windows to apply any suggested repair.

If issue remains, then Right-click the Start button, Open Device Manager:

  1. Expand Sound, video and game controllers, Audio inputs and outputs, Other devices
  2. Look for Realtek, High Definition Audio, Unknown device, or a device with a yellow warning mark.
  3. Right-click it and choose Uninstall device.
  4. If shown, tick Attempt to remove the driver for this device.
  5. Restart the computer.

After restart check if sound start working. If it doesn't then download and install below driver and check after restart:

Thank you for your assistance.  I have followed your instructions and under sound, video and game controllers

Realtek use to but is no longer.  I clicked on your download to hp and accepted but it does nothing.  I checked to see where this file was this is its location (c:\SWSetup\SP147302)  do I need to change something?

Thank you for your assistance.

Thank you I did, that's the one HP that I have to accept then next etc.  Nothing happened.  I checked down lodes it my system put it in a file which is inn previous reply and nothing happened.     Ive received the same information form HP before with the same results-nothing.  I retired from the Air Force went to University for Interior Design; I learned CAD and had my own business for 40 years.  I'm not really computer savvy.  All I know I fallow instruction, agree/disagree and wait when nothing happens, I ask for help, that is where I am now.  I am begging to think HP wants me to buy a new computer that is no what I want to do.

thank you for your assistance.
