Hi @Swiftnick, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The low sound issue on your HP Series 5 27-inch FHD Monitor (527sa) may be due to several factors, including hardware limitations, audio settings, or software configurations. Here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

1. Check Volume Mixer in Windows

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Open Volume Mixer.
  • Ensure the volume level for the monitor is set to maximum.

2. Set the Monitor as the Default Audio Device

  • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar.
  • Select Sounds > Playback tab.
  • Look for HP 527sa Monitor or HDMI Audio Output.
  • Click Set Default if it is not already selected.

3. Disable Audio Enhancements

  • In the Playback tab, select your monitor's audio device and click Properties.
  • Go to the Enhancements tab and check Disable all sound effects.
  • Apply changes and restart your PC.

4. Adjust Equalizer and Audio Settings

  • Open Control Panel > Sound > Playback > Monitor Speakers > Properties > Advanced.
  • Try different sample rates (e.g., 16-bit, 44.1 kHz or 24-bit, 48 kHz) to see if it improves volume.

5. Update or Roll Back Audio Drivers

  • Open Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
  • Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
  • Right-click High Definition Audio Device (or your HDMI audio driver).
  • Click Update Driver > Search automatically for drivers.
  • If the issue persists, try Roll Back Driver.

6. Test Another Audio Source

  • Connect a different PC or laptop to the monitor via HDMI and test sound output.
  • If the sound is still low, the monitor speakers may have limited audio output.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
