I am recently facing an issue out of nowhere. Whenever any application or settings is accessing microphone. For example:
- Sound Recording
- Joining a meeting through google meet or teams
- Screen Recording
- Opening any system setting related to Microphone

The entire screen starts flickering continuously until I stop the application. Please help me if anyone knows how to resolve this.

Hi @Rameez7i7

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern regarding the screen flickering whenever the microphone is accessed. Thank you for explaining the specific scenarios where this occurs.

To guide you with accurate steps, I would like to confirm a few details first:

  • Could you share the exact HP product name or product number?
  • Have you already tried any troubleshooting actions, such as updating drivers through the HP App or checking microphone detection in Device Manager?
  • Does the flickering stop immediately once the microphone access is closed?

This information will help us narrow down whether the issue is linked to audio drivers, display drivers, or system settings. Once you provide these details, I will share precise HP‑recommended steps along with the official source link.

Would you be able to share this information?

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye

One of the best things I ever did on Windows was to block windows update from installing drivers.

Thank you for sharing the product details and the steps you have already tried. I understand the concern regarding the screen flickering whenever the microphone is accessed. Since you have already updated, disabled, and even reset the system, let us proceed with recommended checks that specifically target driver and firmware alignment for your HP Laptop 15s‑fq5329TU (9D3N9PA).

Run Diagnose & Fix in HP App

  • Open the HP App from the Start menu.
  • Select Support > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Allow the tool to scan for driver mismatches or firmware conflicts.
  • Apply the recommended fixes.

Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

Reinstall Graphics and Audio Drivers (HP Certified Versions)

  • From the same support page, download the Intel Graphics driver and the Realtek Audio driver.
  • Uninstall the current versions via Device Manager.
  • Restart the laptop and install the HP‑certified drivers you downloaded.

Check Microphone Settings

  • Go to Settings > System > Sound.
  • Under Input, confirm the microphone is detected correctly.
  • Run the Microphone Troubleshooter to ensure no conflicts remain.

Perform Windows Update Pause for Drivers

  • Open Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options.
  • Enable the option to pause driver updates temporarily.
  • This ensures Windows does not overwrite HP‑certified drivers.

Once these steps are completed, test the microphone again with applications like Sound Recorder or Teams to confirm if the flickering stops.
