I have 2 new all in ones and both have the same problem.
When starting a program where there is sound, there is a delay of at least 3-5 seconds before the sound starts. Sometimes the delay is so long the sound is missed entirely.
Also happens when watching a utube video for example. No sound at first and then it fades in after a few seconds
Also the same when listening to an MP3 on the computer
This happens with both the internal or external speakers when connected.

Hi @cruisinfanatic,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the sound on your HP All-In-One Desktop PC 24 fades in instead of instantly turning on, it could be due to a setting or driver-related issue. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.
- Check Volume Settings: Ensure that the volume is not set to start at a low level or gradually increase. Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar (usually located in the bottom-right corner of the screen) and select "Open Volume Mixer" or "Open Sound Settings" (depending on your Windows version). Check the volume settings for all applications and make sure they are set to an appropriate level.
- Update Audio Drivers: Outdated or corrupted audio drivers can cause various sound-related issues. Go to the HP support website and download the latest audio drivers for your specific model. Install the drivers and restart your computer to see if it resolves the problem.
- Disable Audio Enhancements: Sometimes, audio enhancements or special effects can cause delays in sound playback. Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar, select "Sounds," go to the "Playback" tab, right-click on your default audio device (usually "Speakers"), and choose "Properties." In the Properties window, go to the "Enhancements" tab and check the "Disable all enhancements" option. Click "Apply" and "OK."
- Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date. Windows updates often include bug fixes and improvements, which might resolve the sound issue.
- Test with Different Audio Sources: Verify if the issue persists with different audio sources. Try playing audio from different websites, media players, or applications to see if the fading issue is consistent across all sources or limited to specific ones.
- Perform a System Restore: If the problem started recently after installing new software or making changes to your system, you could try performing a system restore to revert your computer to a previous state when the sound was working correctly.
- Reset Audio Settings: In the "Sound" settings, you may also try clicking on "Troubleshoot" under the "Advanced sound options" section. Follow the on-screen instructions to detect and resolve any sound-related problems.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
