I'm trying to figure out how to connect my monitor's speakers to my pc via a DisplayPort cable or an audio jack cable. I've tried troubleshooting with both windows troubleshooter and hp support assistant. I've set my monitor's speakers as the default audio device and still, I can't hear anything from my monitor's speakers.

Yes, that is correct but that audio jack is for pass-through audio. There are no speakers present in the monitor. Here is another spec page for that monitor

Note on the last line of the first page - Easily plug in your headphones for a more lifelike experience.
And the last line of the next page - Speakers No

I checked the manuals and the advertising and found indications there are no speakers present.
I even found this in another HP source - As this monitor does not feature built-in speakers external audio is not possible. Using headphones along with your ***** will be required for audio.

So it seems there are no internal speakers on/in the monitor.

That simply means there is audio available at the earphone jack on the monitor and all that the monitor does is pass the audio to the earphone jack but does not use it. It would/should be the same as plugging the earphones into the earphone jack on the PC.
