Updates were posted to my computer I believe on the 14 of Sep. Sense then, I get sound from both my headphones and speakers at the same time. I've tried several different corrective actions but to no avail. Can someone assist me with correcting this?

Hello @BEL1900,
Thank you for the reply.
It looks like an issue with the IDT audio drivers. I could not find an IDT audio codec version for Windows 10. So I did some digging on a Microsoft support forum and I found this solution:
- Go to device manager – Right-click on IDT high definition audio CODEC – Update driver software.
- Select “Browse my computer for driver software” – Select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”.
- Select “High Definition Audio Device” (Not IDT High Def... This is important) and click Next. You will get a warning message but reply “Yes”.
- Once windows have successfully updated the driver software, try playing the audio again and check.
Let me know whether that works for you. Good luck!
Cheers 🙂

Hello @BEL1900, Greetings.
Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! I am glad to help you with the sound issues that you are facing with the Envy computer.
First, try the below-mentioned steps to try and fix the issue:
- Go into Control Panel, then Sound.
- Look for the Recording tab.
- Select your microphone/headset as the default device, and press OK.
If you still face the same issue, then proceed with the steps below:
- Go to device manager (You can give a right click on windows logo on bottom left corner of your screen and select device manager from the list)
- Now maximize the “Sound, video and game controllers” from the list. You will see the audio driver. Then give a right click on the audio driver and choose “Update Driver Software” option.
- Choose the option which says “Search automatically for updated driver software”. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the current drivers.
- Once done, restart the computer and check the sound.
Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
Cheers 🙂

Hi @BEL1900,
Thank you for the reply. Appreciate your efforts in trying to get the issue fixed.
I need to know the manufacturer name of the audio driver to further assist you. Go to Device manager – Expand “Sound, Video and game controllers” and give me the name of the audio driver you see there.
Thank you. Have a great day!

Thank you for responding again. What I've pulled up is IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. That's the only thing that shows up under Sound, Video and game controllers. I hope that helps. Again, Thank you for your assistance with this.

Thank you for your time. This did solve part or my problem and restored better sound quality and disengaged the PC speakers when usiing add on speakers. It did not restore Beats Audio unfortunately.
Best regards,
