I would like to connect my desktop to my monitor (which I use both as a monitor and as a TV) via a soundbar. The soundbar supports HDMI but not DVI and the desktop only has DVI, no HDMI. I have tried using a DVI to HDMI cable but can only transfer video, not audio. I have seen elesewhere that the graphics card (Intel HD 4600) can support audio. I have the latest graphics driver for the 4600. Has anyone made graphics and audio work in a similar situation?

Sorry for jumpling in. DVI does not carry sound therefore you need to use sound from headphones jack. There are many cables and adapters around such as the one  @TheOldMan mentioned above or a much simpler like the following one

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

Don't know if this will work -- but it's worth trying ...

Windows 10 does not, by default, route audio over HDMI.

Fix is buried in the Control Panel.

Press Windowskey+R to open the Run box, enter "mmsys.cpl" (without the quotes) and press Enter

In the Sound box, click the Playback tab, then right-click the entry for your monitor and choose "Set as Default Device", then click OK.

Might have to restart PC to see if this works.

First check in the audio settings to see if that option is available for that model. See advise from @WAWood If not then you could use a device like this
