Hello, the headphone jack on my Spectre x360 isn't working. Sound always comes from the speakers which are not muted even when a headphone is plugged in. Tried troubleshooting to no avail - the issue it is finding is that according to the system the headphones are not plugged in (but they are and they work as they have been tested on other devices). Headphones are not listed in the sound output devices, only the speakers. I have tried following similar steps for an HP Pavillion but unfortunately to no avail. Can you please help ?
Many thanks,
Giorgio

I have gone through your Post and would like to help
Is the Headphone loose when you connect it to the Headphone Jack?
I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...
HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also ensure Windows is up to date.
Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Hello KrazyToad,
many many thanks for your help. No the headphones were not loose when inserted in the headphone jack.
Actually the HP Support Assistant was already installed on my computer, and I have gone through all updates possible as suggested, which included a BIOS update.
Next I updated Windows as suggested, which I haven't done before, and rebooted the PC.
Now when I plug the headphones in, in the lower right corner appears a message: You have inserted an audio device in your headphone jack which I was definitely not seeing before. And now the headphones work perfectly (with the speakers being muted when you plug in the headphones).
Thank you very much once again and you have a wonderful day too ! 🙂
Kind regards,
Giorgio
