Hi @VickyIo,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop suddenly has no audio and only works with Bluetooth speakers, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:
1. Check Volume Settings
- Volume Mixer: Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Open Volume Mixer. Make sure the volume is up for your applications and the system sounds.
- Output Device: Right-click the speaker icon again and select Playback devices. Ensure your Realtek speakers are set as the default device. If they aren’t listed, proceed to the next steps.
2. Restart the Audio Service
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type services.msc and hit Enter.
- Scroll down and find Windows Audio. Right-click it and select Restart.
3. Check Device Manager
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
- Look for any warning icons on the Realtek driver. If you see one, right-click and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- If that doesn’t work, you can also try Uninstalling the device and then restarting your laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
4. Run the Audio Troubleshooter
- Open Settings (Windows + I).
- Go to System > Sound.
- Scroll down to Advanced and click on Troubleshoot under the Output section. Follow the prompts.
5. Check for Windows Updates
Sometimes, updates can resolve driver issues:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update.
- Click on Check for updates.
6. Verify Audio Settings in BIOS
Sometimes, the audio device can be disabled in the BIOS:
- Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS setup.
- Look for Integrated Peripherals or a similar tab and check that the audio device is enabled.
- Save changes and exit.
7. Restore Default Settings
If none of the above works, you may consider restoring the audio settings to default:
- Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Sounds.
- Go to the Playback tab, right-click the Realtek device, and choose Properties.
- Under the Advanced tab, click on Restore Defaults.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
