Product: Pavilion HPE
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

In setting up a new Audio Interface, I received the message "Failed to open Microphone (IDT High Definition Audio Codec).   In looking at the forums, I found Paul_Tikkanen's suggestion to use the sp71886.exe driver update, which seems to have worked for (some, but not all) others.   But part way through the installation, I get the message "The hardware detected is not supported by this IDT software package", and the installation is cancelled.

Hi:

 

sp71886 only works on notebook PC's.

 

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the desktop version of the driver...sp71717. 

 

Restart the PC after installing the driver.
