I am wanting to have a headset (with both a mic and obviously the headphones) AND my stereo system working at the same time. There is a plug in on the top of the computer where I can plug my headset in, but when I do that, it instantly takes over ALL audio, and my stereo stops working.  I am wanting to be able to use the headset stricly for the communication device and keep the stereo/speakers working like normal. Is this possible?

The headset can either be a single jack plug or I have a adapter where i can split into two. I can either plug the headset into the plug at the top of the tower OR i can split w/ the adapter in the back, but if i do either of these, my other speakeres stop working.

When I go into the sounds option, it's not showing multiple playback devices, it's only showing the one as "speakers" and if I plug in the headset or unplug, it doesn't change the playback device.

What can I do to make BOTH work at the same time?

I have the HP omen

Hi! @Syringagurl, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand you would like to use headphones and speakers at the same time on your PC.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

Please try the steps recommended below to set headphones and speakers at the same time.

Connect your headphone to your PC and make sure that the speakers are also connected.

Right-click on the volume icon in the taskbar and then click Sounds option to open Sounds dialog.

Under the Playback tab, right-click on your speaker and then click Set as Default Device option to make it default. If the Default Device option is missing or greyed out, then it’s likely because the speaker is already the default audio device on your PC and you can skip to the next step.

Also, you will see Default Device entry just below the device.

Switch to the Recording tab by clicking on the same.

Right-click on your microphone or Stereo Mix and click Properties.

Click on the Listen tab. Here, check the box labelled Listen to this device. Select your headphone from Playback through this device drop-down dialog.

Click Apply button. That’s it! The sound should now be coming from both your headphone as well as speakers.

If both headphone and speaker are not playing the sound at the same time, please check if your have actually set Speaker as the default device (and not default communication device).

Hope this answers your query!

Have a great day! 🙂
