HP ENVY Notebook

When I play music off my device it wavers from being muffled to perfectly clear. I had audio playing a couple of hours before this started happening and it was perfectly clear. Is this something I need to take into get fixed?

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I see that your experiencing Audio issue with HP ENVY Notebook,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?
  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?

While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

To automatically fix many types of sound problems in Windows, click the Microsoft Fix it Solution:

MS Fix it KB948481

If the sound problems continue after using the Fix it Solution, go to Step 2: Perform a simple sound system test to continue troubleshooting.

Step 2: Perform a simple sound system test

To perform a simple sound system test, follow the steps below.

  1. Double-click the sound icon  in the task bar, and then select Mixer to display controls for all of the sound applications.
  2. Click Start, Control Panel, select Hardware and Sound, and then select Sound.
  3. From the Sounds tab, select any option under Program that has the sound icon next to it, such as Asterisk, and then click Test. Sound should be audible through the notebook's speakers.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!
