@Wopatoolie Alright, so, 1st off if that's a custom built PC why are you downloading and using HP drivers and software? You installed it, you should live with it. HP will NEVER ever just install it on your PC just like that, out of the clear blue sky. Stop yelling at adults, that's rude.

2nd, since you did it with your own hands (and by that i mean you downloaded and installed drivers and software from HP support in hope you'll enable that Realtek sound card from that "would be" custom built PC of yours) why are you so rude with poeple that try to help you? Be humble, you [edit] up not HP!

HP support, you're welcome. I know you'll lose your jobs if you reply with these words but here, i've done it for you.

I made an account here just to say that your initial answer was definitely in the right direction, KrazyToad.

Using that tool you linked to - VERY useful btw, thank you - I was able to resolve this same or at least very similar issue that had been irritating me for some time, albeit..... perhaps not to the extent it was bothering the OP.

The reason your solution was not 100% dead-on target, I believe, is due to some, well, odd interactions that I'm guessing are similar to those the OP experienced.

I went through the settings on my customized, pre-built OMEN PC and uninstalled/disabled the startup functionality of anything that came pre-installed/configured that did not appeal to me when I performed initial setup... getting rid of that Intel Extreme Tuning Utility proved difficult and I had to take additional steps to stop my CPU from factory-settings overclocking to over 5 GHz from it's 3.20 GHz Base speed listed in Task Manager... but that's going off topic.

The uninstalls, if memory serves, included an OMEN Audio Control.

In addition, I disabled the startup functionality of a Realtek HD Audio thingamabob - I believe it was indeed tagged as RTHDVCPL, but it's been a while.

The weird thing was that, as I'm guessing happened to the OP, there was still an active, running icon in the taskbar/system tray labelled "Omen Audio Control".

Here's the catch: it's actually a Realtek thing using an Omen Audio Control Icon.

Weirder still, it was not being made to run with anything related to startup - no listing in Task Manager's startup section, nor the Autoruns startup section.

HOWEVER, having already guessed it was related to a Realtek thing, while browsing the Everything tab of Autoruns, I noticed something most unexpected - an entry in Task Scheduler for something Realtek related.

I don't recall exactly what it was called, but it was listed under the Task Scheduler section of Autoruns.

It was set to, at login of any user, run one of the Realtek files in the picture below - my apologies, I do not recall which... perhaps it was RAVBg64.exe?... also, within this folder (C:>Program Files>Realtek>Audio>HDA) there's a HP2017.ico file that matched the appearance of the icon for Omen Audio Control in the taskbar/system tray:

Note the HP2017.icoNote the HP2017.icoSo, if this issue is still persisting for the OP or anyone else, either get the, again, very useful application KrazyToad suggested, go to its Task Scheduler section and locate an entry by Realtek named after one of the executables in the image (again, I must apologize for being unable to recall for certain which.... I'm reasonably sure it was RAVBg64.exe) - which was at the bottom of Autoruns' Task Scheduler section on my list and remove it that way - mind you, this will require that you give Autoruns administrative rights... or...

... now already knowing what you're looking for and where to find it, just go straight to the source by opening the Task Scheduler application (Start Menu>Windows Administrative Tools>Task Scheduler or alternatively just search your computer for "Task Scheduler") and find the entry Authored by Realtek - there was only one in my case, but if you have more than one, make sure it's one that's pointing to one of the files listed in the picture - I do believe it was RAVBg64.exe in my case.

Here is an example of my Task Scheduler after removing the entry Authored by Realtek - note the rightmost column, Author, would list Realtek for the entry you're looking to remove.

I would also like to mention that I find it mildly odd that, after uninstalling the Omen Audio Control, it is still integrated into the Control Panel under Hardware and Sound - not a big deal, just odd, imo.

There it is, at the bottom. I uninstalled you! Heh.There it is, at the bottom. I uninstalled you! Heh.

Anyway, thanks again for that excellent tool, KrazyToad - I would never have figure this out without it. 🙂

Edit: the pictures do not appear to be showing up and I'm struggling to think of a way to explain their content via text only.

I did my best, but is also rather late atm and I need to head to bed now.

Edit2: well, the images appear to display properly in the post now, but only when I'm not logged in here, which is rather unexpected/unusual behavior.

I probably have something configured incorrectly in my profile settings - I'll see if I can figure it out.

Update: I determined why the images were not displaying while logged in - under My Settings>Preferences>Preference Options I had to uncheck "Ignore HTML".
