There are 200 versions of your 520-1010uk system. Please look for the Product ID (not serial number) and post the product ID.

I am going to guess that the webcam has a microhome and the computer has its on microphone input.

Look under both sound settings "input" and "All sound devices" and make sure that the webcam microphone is selected.

You may need to look a the Zoom app and see what it is using for input.

If you have a headset plugged into the computer headset jack does zoom use that device?

If you upgraded to 11 from windows 7 then possibly a driver problem

The product ID is 00325-96756-26949-AAOEM, and Windows 11 was pre-installed.

or can be found using the HP support assistant.

It should end in #ABU if bought in the UK

Thanks!

I looked at the list of HP drivers for your system here

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-all-in-one-pc-24-k0000a/32482448/model/...

I noticed there is software for "Pixela TV Tuner"  Please look at your sound input and make sure it is not using the TV Tuner to get audio.

There are also some recent 2022 updates.  Have your run the HP support assistant to check for updates?

If you use the windows media play to play an MP3 can the person on the zoom hear the mp3?

You might need to update the support assistant

BeemerBiker_0-1664833860925.png

Running 9.20.22?

Click on Device Specifications and see what Board ID and BIOS version you are running

BeemerBiker_1-1664834036361.png

Is your board ID is 86EE your bios should be F.11

if 86ED then F.51

If a BIOS update needs to be installed (is critical) then the HP support assistant should have requested permission to install.

Else update not needed

If the system is in warranty possibly HP tech support can access your system remotely and look at the sound problem.

Your first post listed the HP model as HP TouchSmart 520-1010uk Desktop PC

The product ID you supplied was for an All-In-One 24-K0017na

I assume you have the AIO and not the desktop

Does Cortana respond to your commands?

Can you dictate into notepad?

One of the updated features in Windows 11 is the new Voice Typing with auto punctuation. If you have a microphone (or even a webcam with a built-in microphone), you can use it to start typing with your voice. (Press Win + H, or select the mic button on the Touch keyboard.) Thankfully, Voice Typing has evolved and now includes auto punctuation, so you don’t have to correct as much punctuation as before.

If you cannot do any of the above please contact HP support for warranty service.

Possibly the UK support is here

https://www.hp.com/gb-en/shop/faq.aspx?p=technical-support#useful-links

else https://support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

If Cortana or the voice dictation work then I recommend you contact Zoom or WhatsApp for Tech Support.  They may have a community (forum) where you can get help.  Zoom and WhatsApp are third party not officially support by Microsoft.  I have never used Zoom and only used WhatsApp on iPhone.
