My desktop 500-437c did not come with a HDMI port. I used to hook it up with a DVI-D to HDMI and then carry the sound with a 3.5mm cable. Now I have a new smart TV that cannot be hooked up the same way. I read in several blogs that it is possible to carry both video and sound via the DVI-D from the computer to the HDMI to the TV as long as I have the correct DVI-D connector (which apparently I do, a DVI-D dual link), and a graphics card that will push the sound thru the DVI-D (not so sure about). Does anyone know if this can be done, and if so, what do I need to do as far as windows settings to get this to work. I already have the DVI-D to HDMI adapter, but so far I can only get this to bring over video.
My desktop has the integrated R5 graphics
My computer port is a DVI-D Dual Link
My TV has an HDMI port

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
To get the answer to this question, DVI is a video display interface It is a video display interface only.
I can suggest you can use wireless speaker for audio play back.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
