" I bought Hp Slimline 270-a015t. It has no speakers. Chatted with HP sales support. They had me buy HP S3100 USB speakers. They do not work. I have been through ALL of the steps with the virtual support agent. Please help."

Hi:
Verify that you have done the following...
1. Connected the speaker's USB plug into any one of the USB ports labeled 4 or 5 in the rear of the PC.
See this diagram...

- DC power in
- VGA
- HDMI out
- USB 3.0: 2
- USB 2.0: 2
- LAN (Ethernet)
- Audio: Line in
- Audio: Line out
- Audio: Microphone
2. Plug the speaker wire with the green jack into the port in the rear of the PC labeled as #8.
3. Go to the Windows control panel>Hardware and Sound>Sound>Manage Audio Devices, and make sure the PC speakers are set as the default.
If you have done those 3 steps and the speakers still do not work, there is either a problem with the new speakers you just bought (you can test them on another desktop or laptop PC if you have one.
If they work on on another PC, then there is an issue with the PC's audio output.
If they don't work on another PC, you can pretty much conclude you got a defective pair of speakers.
