I am trying to copy an LP. I have connected the turntable to the Line-in 3.5mm jack receptacle on the rear of the PC case, but no sound. Speakers work, microphone works, but not line-in. I did try connecting the 3.5mm jack into the mic in jack but the sound was terrible.

No, direct connection from standard turn table (analog) to line in (digital) computers won't work. You have to convert to a proper format first. Please use the following guide

The audio line-in connection to the audio portion of the desktop is analog. And digital connections don’t use a 3.5 mm stereo jack as input. Is there a way to activate the line-in on the rear of the desktop?
