Hi @Sioscottecs23,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with audio cracking.

Audio popping and cracking issues on your Victus By HP 15L Gaming Desktop PC TG02-0000a can be caused by various factors, including outdated or conflicting drivers, incorrect audio settings, or hardware issues. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Update Audio Drivers

  • Download Latest Drivers: Visit the HP Support website and download the latest audio drivers for your specific model.
    • Go to the HP support site, enter your model number, and look for the audio driver under the driver and software section.
    • Install Drivers: Install the downloaded drivers and restart your PC.

Update Other Drivers

  • Graphics and Chipset Drivers: Sometimes, audio issues can be related to other drivers.
    • Update your graphics and chipset drivers from the HP website or directly from the manufacturer's site (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD, Intel).

3. Check Audio Settings

  • Audio Enhancements: Disable audio enhancements to see if they are causing the issue.
    • Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Playback devices.
    • Select your audio device, click Properties, and go to the Enhancements tab.
    • Check Disable all enhancements and click Apply and OK.
  • Exclusive Mode: Ensure no applications are taking exclusive control of the audio device.
    • Go to the Advanced tab in the same Properties window.
    • Uncheck Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.

Change Default Format

  • Adjust Sample Rate and Bit Depth: Change the default format of your audio device.
    • In the Advanced tab of the audio device properties, try different sample rates and bit depths (e.g., 24-bit, 44100 Hz).

5. Disable Power Management for USB

  • USB Power Management: If you're using a USB audio device, disabling power management for USB can help.
    • Go to Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    • Right-click each USB Root Hub, select Properties, go to the Power Management tab, and uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

un Audio Troubleshooter

  • Windows Audio Troubleshooter: Use the built-in troubleshooter to identify and fix audio problems.
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
    • Select Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter.

7. Disable Unnecessary Startup Programs

  • Clean Boot: Disable unnecessary startup programs that might interfere with audio performance.
    • Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
    • Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and click Disable all.
    • Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
    • Disable all startup items, close Task Manager, and click OK in the System Configuration window.
    • Restart your PC.

8. Check for Interference

  • Electronic Interference: Ensure that your PC and audio devices are not placed near other electronic devices that might cause interference.

9. Reinstall Audio Drivers

  • Reinstall Drivers: Sometimes, reinstalling the drivers can resolve persistent issues.
    • Open Device Manager, expand Sound, video and game controllers.
    • Right-click your audio device and select Uninstall device.
    • Restart your PC, and Windows should automatically reinstall the audio drivers.

Check for Hardware Issues

  • Cables and Connections: Ensure all audio cables and connections are secure and undamaged.
  • Test with Different Hardware: If possible, test your PC with different speakers or headphones to rule out a hardware issue with your audio device.

11. BIOS and Firmware Updates

  • Update BIOS: Check the HP support site for any BIOS or firmware updates that might address hardware compatibility issues.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be a hardware problem with the audio components of your PC. In that case, contacting HP Support or taking your PC to a professional technician for further diagnosis and repair might be necessary.
