Hi @mirelius88,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue with your new HP Envy x360. It's understandable to feel disappointed when the premium audio features you expected aren't working as they should. Let’s work on resolving this so you can fully enjoy your laptop's capabilities.
- Have you tried using the Bang & Olufsen audio control panel, or is it completely missing from your system?
- Do you notice sound coming only from the bottom speakers, or is there no audio output at all from the side speakers?
- Were there any software updates or driver installations after you initially set up the laptop?
Let's try these steps.
Check the Audio Output Device Settings:
- Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
- Under the Playback tab, ensure the Bang & Olufsen Audio or Speakers (Realtek) is set as the default audio device.
- Test audio playback to confirm if the sound outputs correctly.
Reinstall the Audio Driver:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers, right-click Realtek Audio, and select Uninstall Device.
- Check the box for Delete the driver software for this device if available.
- Restart the laptop, and Windows will reinstall the default driver. Test the audio.
Install the HP Audio Control Software:
- Visit the HP Support website and download the Bang & Olufsen Audio Control software or associated driver for your laptop.
- Install the software, restart your system, and check if the side speakers are working correctly.
Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers:
- Outdated system firmware or chipset drivers can cause audio issues.
- Download and install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers from the HP Support page specific to your laptop model.
- Restart your laptop and test the audio output.
Run the Audio Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Select Playing Audio and click Run. Follow the on-screen instructions to resolve detected issues.
If the issue persists, there could be a hardware problem, and it might be worth reaching out to HP Support for repair service options.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
