Just got my new desktop. Its real fast and I like that but no sound. Then I found out no speakers included. Thats ok cuz i got some Bose Companion 2 Series II Multimedia speakers. I plugged them in the RIGHT WAY, yes all jacks are where they are supposed to be, checked and re checked. These speakers work fine with other equipment so no problem there at all.
I looked at SEVERAL you tube tutorials and they all seem to want me to go to the control panel and select devices and find my bose speakers and download drivers for them, but they are not there???!!! All I see are REAl TEK audio speakers. This seems to be pre selected on the Pavillion and there are no other choices.
so I got some headphones and plugged them in to the jack. Hear tones , music et all just fine there so at least the computer knows how to do it but what is up with the Bose speakers? they are so great. I would like to use them.

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
I have used Bose speakers on HP consumer PCs.
They should just work when connected to the rear lime audio out jack.
Maybe your speakers are muted or something.
Try the speakers in the front headphone jack.
Sound settings in Control Panel should be set on HD Realtek audio and not HDMI audio or optical audio.

already tried plugging speakers into the headphone jack, no difference. Also I did write that I had checked the speakers with another device. they are fine, and yes, not muted.
Is this a Windows 10 thing? Please help me sort this out. Cant find how to tell the computer where to find these speakers.

Hi,
Yes, the speakers work when connected to a different PC.
All I can say is check Device Manager for audio driver issues, check Sound in Control Panel for Realtek audio.
Make sure the Realtek Speakers in Sound are not muted or disabled and set as the default communications device.
I have Bose speakers running fine on Windows 10. I have used Bose speakers on HP consumer PCs with zero problems.
Check for system driver problems in Control Panel, Administrative Tools, System Information. Expand Hardware Resources, then check for Forced Hardware.
Then expand Components and check for Problem Devices.

I have already done all that has been suggested. watched you tube videos about the problem, no luck. I think this is a deeper problem. Maybe a Windows 10 thing?? I bought a cheap little speaker and plugged it in. works fine but wish I could use my Bose speakers.

Hi,
It is not a Windows 10 issue. I am using Bose on a Windows 10 PC. The speakers should work if wired correctly, AC power is being provided to the speakers, and the volume level is set correctly..
I don't know what is going on. Speakers don't require drivers to work. The audio output is provided by the audio chip on the motherboard or discrete audio such as a creative sound card.

I did a google search for my issue and found someone else with the same problem. I am not alone. Can anyone out there help me? your customer tech support does not help. they just keep saying for me to do all the things that have been suggested here and dont work. I repeat. It is NOT a problem with the speakers which work fine on other devices. Just wont work on THIS desktop Pavillion.

Hi,
Hopefully someone else can assist.
I have never, in my 30+ years of computing, experienced what you are describing.
Speakers are like power supplies. The operating system and the PC don't know or care what you connect as long as the hardware works correctly.
Good luck.

Hi,
So, you are saying the audio cable provided by Logitech does not fit the rear HP (lime) audio out jack. Does the Logitech cable have a standard 3.5 mm connector?
I have never seen the inability to connect a standard 3.5 mm audio jack to the audio out port on a HP PC.
You have to determine what size HP is using and get an adapter.
