I cannot choose rear jack in speaker set up, only the front jack is recognized. When sound test is performed, only the front speakers are test, which makes sense. However, when I play music, sound comes out of all four speakers and the subwoofer. Using a logitech dts surround speaker system on a just purchased and setup hp mo2-0127c.

Hi @LabLoverx2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I hear that this happens when the system is using multistreaming audio or when the audio software is not set to the correct speaker configuration.

What to check:

  • Open Realtek HD Audio Manager and verify the speaker type:

    1. Click Start.

    2. Open Control Panel.

    3. Select Hardware and Sound.

    4. Open Realtek HD Audio Manager.

    5. Click the Speakers tab.

    6. Click Speaker Configuration.

    7. Select your actual speaker setup from the drop-down list, such as 4.1 or 5.1.

    8. Click OK.

  • HP notes that for multichannel output, the rear-panel outputs can be configured for stereo 2.0 up to 7.1, while the front-panel output is the green headphone connector only. If the setup app is only showing the front jack, the system may be configured for front/rear multistreaming rather than standard surround speaker assignment.

  • In Realtek HD Audio Manager, check Device Advanced Settings. If enabled, the option “Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously” can affect how the jacks appear and behave.

  • For surround setups, HP’s speaker connection guidance says:

    • Front speakers use the lime green output.

    • Rear speakers use the black output.

    • Centre/subwoofer uses the gold connector; on some 3-connector systems, the pink/blue jacks are reassigned when multichannel mode is enabled.
  • Why sound may still come from all speakers:
  • If music plays through all speakers even though the test only checks front speakers, that usually means:

  • the speaker system is doing its own surround expansion, or

  • Windows/Realtek is outputting stereo while the Logitech system is upmixing it. If the rear jack is not appearing correctly:

Make sure the speakers are plugged into the correct rear line-out jacks.

Reconfigure the sound software for surround sound.

If needed, reinstall the audio drivers using HP’s recovery/application reinstallation tools.

    I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
