does anyone know which brand/model of microphone is compatible with EliteDesk 800 G4?  i've tried 3 different ones, all of which work on other pcs, without luck.

I suspect the problem is related to this spec:

Headset connector supports a CTIA style headset

To clarify that statement, here is an explanation for that spec

https://headphonefactory.net/article/what-is-your-mobile-phone-headset-jack-standard--omtp-or-ctia-....

There are a variety of audio jacks on the rear panel that appear to be different than the front jacks.  Here is the manual

If you are only trying the front panel jacks, see the manual and try the rear panel jacks, per the manual

OMTP or CTIA, indeed, that might be the question...unfortunately, there's no information in the service manual to say which it is.

you got the right service manual, but there are no audio jacks in the rear panel; just the two at the front

OMTP headphones work ok in the combo jack, but the microphone doesn't.

as a workaround, i am getting a USB 'C' microphone...
