Envy23
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

had to do an MS restore to factory settings but keeping the files.

all worked except it now is not able to find the built in speakers or mic. jacks not working either. speaker and mic worked prior and they are still built in. Cam is working fine but of course no sound.

HP diagnostics tool useless so is any advice online sofar as all always deals with updating drivers etc. Since it does not see the devices it obviously is not able to "update" anything.

HP help site is useless and I am unable to find a chat link with a real person at HP.

thanks for reading, if you have experienced the same and have a solution? please let me know before I have to go and buy usb speakers.

kind regards

Mungo

I reviewed your post and I understand that the audio is not working on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Do you see the driver for the audio in the device manager?

What is the product number of your computer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you uninstall the audio driver from the device manager (If present) and then download and install the audio driver from the below link and check if it helps.

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

Here is how it is done.

  1. Type "Device Manager" into the search field to open the device manager console.
  2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
  3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
  4. When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.

NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

thank you for your attempt to help.

device manager does not see any audio device, no drivers are installed as there NO audio device.

since it is built in in our all in one Envy23, I have to assume that this is a mobo issue then.

checking on the Taiwanese mbo site I was not able to find any help only that this mobo is no longer supported. the bios listed is the same one as on the computer, so I am unable to to download a newer version.

so........ thanks again for your attempt, but downloading drivers is not an option if no audio devise is shown.

of course, I could be totally wrong in my assumption.

as a fix for now, I have purchased some usb speakers, plugged them in and working. usb because the audio jack is not working either.

cheers

I am glad to know that you have found a work around.

I suggest you check in the hidden devices in device manager view tab and check whether the audio devices are listed there.

Let me know.

Cheers!
