HP Slim Desk, S01-pF1048
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just received new computer, but got no sounds from either front (headphone) or rear (speaker).  Ran updates, HP support for newer drivers and the headphone jack now works, but still no sounds from the speakers.  The virtual assistant says it cannot find the audio device.  At another system audio check it says "not connected".  Are there speakers in the CPU and if so, how to get them connected or turned-on?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try these steps:

Hard reset a desktop or All-in-One PC

  1. Turn off the computer. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.

  2. With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the Power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator, which is on the power button or near it, might turn on briefly but then it goes off.

  3. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the computer.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the "Accept as solution" button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Thanks!

Have a great day!

There are no internal speakers in the CPU.  Bought a couple of external speakers and they work just fine.

I'm glad to hear that. Do get back to us in the future for further assistance.
